Here are a few highlights to make your trip more enjoyable. Safe Travels!!

SNORKEL THE RUINS

Calling all snorkel dorks! This thrilling 60-minute program includes an amazing 30-minute snorkeling adventure amid the sunken ruins and artifacts of the lost city of Atlantis. Home to more than 20,000 deep-reef and pelagic fish, rays, and sharks this 2.7 million-gallon marine exhibit is a super exciting hands-on experience. As a side note… I was not able to locate Jason Momoa (Aquaman). Better luck next time I suppose!

DOLPHINS & SEA LIONS

Love and Learn! When trying to describe spending time in the water with Sea Lions or Dolphins, there are a few words that quickly come to mind: wet, silly, goofy, and crazy fun. Kinda like us huh? Visiting the dolphins in their environment, you will have the chance to develop a once-in-a-lifetime, face-to-face connection. The Playtime with Sea Lions experience is also an opportunity for fun. We had a blast with these amazing sea mammals by playing, swimming, and and making crazy faces with them.

A 1A TO 30A GETAWAY

discover.jpg

After a VERY rainy winter and an upcoming long President’s Day weekend - a trip to 30A sounded like the perfect girls getaway. For those that hate to drive (raising my hand high) Delta has flights into Ft. Walton Airport VPS. From there just call Charlie at Emerald Coast Elite Car Service and he will make sure you get to Watercolor Inn and Resort safely. This sure beats sitting in 5-6 hours of Atlanta beach traffic easily. You’re Welcome!

New Town, Old Ways. Located along the waters of Florida’s Gulf Coast, Seaside provides vacationers with more than a trip to its pristine beaches. Seaside offers a thriving town center with shopping and dining, all within walkable distance to homes, cottages, and offices. Consisting of more than 300 homes, the community also offers an abundant assortment of restaurants, shops, and galleries.

SHOPPING

Seaside’s three distinct shopping districts offer a variety of shopping experiences, whether you’re interested in antiques, apparel or art. One of our favorite shops is the Art of Simple, it’s super creative, fun, and a great way to spend an overcast afternoon.

BEACH DAYS

Lucky for us - we beat the crowds by visiting in February. Spending the day on the sugary white sands of the gulf coast is an absolute favorite pastime of ours. Watercolor has beach service to make the experience extra relaxing.

beach walk.png

BEACH NIGHTS

One of the unique features of Seaside are the individual pavilions that mark the walkways of stairs leading down to the sand. Each walkway has a pavilion designed by a different architect. The view down the beach with the pavilions dotting the way is just another charming, and well thought out, detail. We enjoyed our nightly walks while listening to the waves brush against the shore.

SEASIDE FAVORITES

PICKLES BEACHSIDE GRILLE - This classic hamburger stand will remind you of days gone by. Home of the Paradise Burger and famous Fried Pickle, not to mention the best chili cheese dog this side of Texas! Plenty of cold beer and daiquiris to wet your whistle. One of the best people watching places along Scenic 30-A

CRÊPES DU SOLEIL AIRSTREAM - The menu features traditional crepes, including Crepes Suzette, a French dessert crepe served with a sauce of caramelized sugar, butter, orange zest, brandy and Grand Marnier. Other favorites on the sweet side are the Nutella crepes and chocolate mousse crepes, a twist on what is typically a chocolate syrup-drizzled crepe.

FISH OUT OF WATER - At Fish Out Of Water, you are sure to catch some of the best gulf views Scenic30A has to offer. Located at the WaterColor Inn & Resort, this fine dining experience wont be one to forget. The award winning cuisine features some of the freshest seafood in South Walton and a great selection of wines. Sit outside on the Sunset Deck, inside in the dining room or in the wine room for a special treat!

HEAVENLY SHORTCAKES & ICE CREAM - With a name like this, how can you NOT go there? You might call this the ultimate dessert place in Seaside, maybe all of Scenic 30-A. Probably known best for their authentic Italian gelato, you will also find hand-folded ice cream, strawberry shortcakes, gourmet coffee and cookies. Try the pistachio gelato - clearly it is our fave!!!

goatfeathers.png

THE GOAT OF CRAB CLAWS

GOATFEATHERS - Funny name, serious seafood. Casual, family-style dining with fresh seafood and plenty of choices for landlubbers. Enjoy the crab legs and lobster… it is our tradition obviously!!

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU!

discover.jpg

You know I just LIVE for a W Hotel! So we started the New Year with a BANG to escape our current vibe and got swept away by the spectacular W Fort Lauderdale. This magnificent beachfront hotel sits at the epicenter of all that's vibrant in the Fort, world-class shopping, award-winning dining and buzzworthy attractions. We soaked in ocean views from our stylish and luxurious hotel room. We mingled at the oceanfront WET East pool, to behold all that is glorious at this influencer favorite.

STYLISH STARTS FOR ABUNDANT LIVING

Champagne (wishes you were here) and caviar dreams! This is a great time of year to decide what areas of your life you want to improve and take serious action toward change. January herald’s a great time for renewal and getting outside of our comfort zones to push ourselves towards achieving everything that we want. Each year I do a strategic plan - both personally and professionally.

Here are a few questions I answer;
Where do I want to go?
Who do I want to meet?
What do I want to learn?
What do I want to create?
How do I want to live?
Who do I want to become?

Doing strategic planning in the beautiful and inspirational surroundings of the W Fort Lauderdale provides the atmosphere for quiet introspection that allows me to answer such serious questions. Where do you prefer to do your goal setting?

SUN, FUN, AND A NEW YEAR HAS BEGUN

LIVE IT UP! - New Year's Eve Bash. For a stellar start to 2019, we headed to the W Fort Lauderdale for an exquisite dinner buffet curated by chef Stephen Starr, free cocktails, a balloon drop and, of course, a Champagne toast at midnight. The dancing began at 8 p.m. and went all night. Fireworks started at midnight and could be seen in every direction. We scootered around the Fort celebrating with locals anticipating all the great things yet to come in the new year!

ONSITE AND OUT OF SIght

Traveling can be exhausting. Having room service and restaurants 12 floors below is important. We were able to enjoy the impeccable service of every W Fort Lauderdale dining establishment.

STEAK 954

James Beard Award Winner Stephen Starr offers a unique interpretation of a classic steakhouse at beach side Steak 954, serving dry-aged meats, delectable sides and an innovative cocktail menu. Don’t forget the gram with that glowing 15-foot jellyfish aquarium.

Our traditional New Year’s meal is significant of the abundance of the year to come. For some people, collards and black eyed peas are the superstitious meal of choice. For us, it’s lobster and champagne. We have become maniacal about our bubbles and crustaceans over the years.. I highly recommend it!

El Vez brings a vibrant setting, regional Mexican fare, and stellar service. In addition to the delicious fare, the restaurant will offer a vast tequila selection and outstanding signature cocktails including a variety of margaritas available by the glass or pitcher.

You not only bear witness to the event, you become part of it!  I cannot tell you how much fun this is, truly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Make this a yearly tradition and bring lots of friends. Adult libations and popcorn are also available so basically wins on wins.

MAKING FURRY FRIENDS

After spending what seems like hundreds of hours on screen time, a walk around a small farm, animal village, and the south Georgia countryside seemed like the perfect solution for going off grid.

At Serenbe, complimentary feed is provided for guests to engage with the many animals at the Inn's Animal Village. We were able to pet and feed the pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and a llama. A regular Dr. Doolittle if you will. For animal people, this just fills your heart.

GOAT YOGA

Caution! This is for people that only like to have fun! I promise you will not be disappointed. There is no way you can go home without experiencing this much joy and laughter, at yourself as well as the goats. Goat yoga is practiced amongst sweet and silly Nigerian Dwarf goats. Every class is a new experience, as the goats tend to be the stars of the show. Goats are considered to be one of the best emotional support animals. Though it is hard to determine who is supporting who here. Clearly we nailed it LOL!

ROOM TO UNWIND

For our weekend of ghosts and goats, we stayed at Lake House 33. The Lake House is a spacious 4 bedroom cottage that overlooks the lake. Each room includes a King bed, or two twins, each with a private bath, and a common area with a full kitchen and living room. The Lake House also has a large screened wrap porch which is great for evening cocktails and and watching beautiful sunsets with the farm animals.

COMFORT ZONES & HOT COALS

You know when you are building your bucket list and you come up with wacky idea of doing a Tony Robbins seminar with firewalk? Yeah, well I did that for you. You’re welcome.

I’m not a super big risk taker, I hate when people move my cheese, but lately I have been pushing myself out of my comfort zone. That’s where the growth is – at least that is what they say.

The whole day it’s in the back of your mind. Can I do it? I Can do it! How do they do it? After a 12-hour intense therapy session that is one-part rave and one-part leadership coaching we prepare to become Firewalkers. 30 bridges of fear are stoked, padded at each end with God’s green grass.  Adrenaline is high, fear is palpable, as is the excitement. A full day of high motion graphics, high achieving people, and high intensity training, culminate in this flummoxed state of invincibility. Barefoot we parade through the arena to the parking lot chanting “Yes” and heading in the direction of hot flaming lava. We move through the sea of hopefuls and high achievers, chanting and supporting each other (high fives everywhere). The line funnels – at first slowly, then quicker, then “oh shit” it’s me now. Trained mental gurus are prepping you and pumping your psyche every step of the way. The burning embers beckon. Avoid the gray coals as they are deceivingly the hottest. Don’t look down. Definitely do not look down. Focus on the sky as you repeat the mantra “Cool Moss”.  Somehow I wished I had done the VR version first.  First step.. cool moss.. my right foot planted into the 2100 degree coals. Next step… left foot planted a little too firmly with a little too much resolve. Oh shit, that hurt. My aching arch quickly derails my beautiful state as I complete the next six steps deliberately with full “oh shit” intensity.  No going back. No failure. Freedom is on the other side. Somehow, I make it and quite frankly a little shocked.

I am being hugged, and hosed off for errant embers. WOW. That was cool!  But my left foot though. Hobbling barefoot across the parking lot (not recommended mind you) after searing my feet and mind to gather our belongings and revel in our collective success. A few minor blisters treated with cool water and Alleve and a much earned bottle of champagne.  The victory was sweet. “If you are going to take the island you have to burn the boats.” TR

All in all, a tremendous experience. No matter the reason why you walk, catharsis is imminent.  Freeing myself from history and mistakes gives me a fresh start for success.  Comfort zone moved.. bucket list check!

How are you challenging yourself? What's on your bucket list?
